About the Cover

cover photo
As part of the 1994 graduation at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, a civilian "color girl," Jennifer Vogel, presents the colors to members of the Color Guard for Company 30. A local department store donated the dress, to draw customers in light of the many June weddings around the Academy. Vogel is accompanied by the Academy Superintendent, Rear Admiral Thomas C. Lynch, and Lieutenant Commander Scott Bracher. Lt. Cmdr. Bracher died in the line of duty in 2005 in a plane crash at Jacksonville Naval Air Station; his memorial website is www.scottbracher.com.
